 KDC Newsletter- Feb. 2013

Dear Parents,
We are currently working on our recital line ups and rehearsal calendar.  As a reminder, the Spring Recitals are June 8th and 9th will be held at HHS Presentation Center.  Dress rehearsals will be on June 1st and 2nd.  Your child will be sent home with recital packets next month.  Our Hanford pre-school/K/1 show will be Saturday, June 8th at 1:00 and our Lemoore Studio show will be Sunday, June 9th at 1:00.  The other Hanford classes will be split between Saturday and Sunday 4:30 shows.  A list of classes that will be in each show will be sent out next month.

Recital Picture Days

Each year we have a photographer take group pictures of each recital dance in their costumes for the recital slide show.  We have found that doing this during regularly scheduled class times works best for dancers and parents as weekends in the spring tend to be very busy for many families.  Dancers are to arrive at class in their costume with their hair and make-up done according to their costume checklist (make-up for pictures can be lighter than what is needed for stage make-up at the show).  After the group photo, dancers will have the opportunity to take individual photos if they wish.  Our photographers will take 2-3 poses of each individual dancer.  There is no sitting fee or obligation to purchase group or individual photos, but many families enjoy the keepsake.  Photos will be on the photographers website a few weeks after the photo session and will be available for order at that time.  Photos on the website are not cropped or edited, but your final product will be.  If you wish for a full photo session, including background changes, props etc., you will need to schedule that with the photographer to meet at the photo studio on a different date/time (there is a sitting fee for a full photo studio session).

REMINDER:

• Both studios will OPEN for regular classes on Monday, February 11th
• Both studios will be CLOSED for Presidents Day on Monday, February 18th

Recital Costumes:

Our first wave of costumes has come in and we are expecting the others to come in within the next few weeks.  Classes that have costumes in will take them them home with a costume checklist over the next couple of weeks.  Costumes that need alterations will not be sent home until the alterations are completed. Dancers who have an outstanding balance on their account (including tuition, etc.) will not be able to take their costumes home until their accounts are up to date.  Please hang costumes in a safe place and do not allow dancers to wear them until picture/costume check day.  The costume checklists will have shoes and tights needed on them.  We have shoes and tights at the Hanford studio, but please do not wait until right before pictures or recital to order them, as they tend to go on backorder this time of year and we may have to wait a few weeks for our orders.

In Other News:

**KDC is working with a new software company that will allow our clients the option of reviewing their child's dance class schedule and account online and give parents the opportunity to handle payments for tuition, etc. in a secure online setting as well.  Look for more infomation in the spring and summer on this new program

**Calling ALL DADS, the Dads dance for recital has RETURNED.  The first practice is Friday, February8th at the Hanford Studio.  Please call 587-1101 for more information!
